Feeling technologically clueless? Let us help! We'll be here every Thursday morning to answer questions and give hands on help between 9 and 10 AM - just come in the back entrance and we'll try to help as best we can, first come, first serve. We can assist you with your questions about downloadable audiobooks, ebooks, word processing, basic spreadsheets, presentation software and, of course, any of our own databases!

The library will host an exhibit of paintings by Bill Gusky through May 26. Art work by Janet Newman will be on display from May 29 through June 30. The exhibits may be viewed during regular library hours.

New Milford Public Library and the FRIENDS of NMPL will present Music As Brain Food with Elena Marines, on Wednesday, May 2 at 6:30 PM. Emmy award-winning documentary filmmaker, Elena Mannes, will speak on the power of music to feed our brains. Ms. Mannes is the author of "The Power of Music: Pioneering Discoveries in the New Science of Song", which will be available for purchase and signing. Ms. Mannes is a member of one of America's most distinguished musical families: her grandparents founded the famed Mannes College of Music in Manhattan and her great-uncle, Walter Damrosch, conducted the Metropolitan Opera orchestra. New Milford Public Library invites children ages 4-8 to a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Saturday, May 5, at 10:30 AM. Come enjoy stories, films and craft fun! This program is free. The May Sunday Family Program at New Milford Public Library will be held on Sunday, May 6, at 2:00 PM, and will feature The Bat Lady.  Registration is required for this free program. For more information and to register, stop by or call the Children's Library at 860 355-1191 x204.

Students ages 8-14 are invited to participate in a Pokemon Game Day Tournament at New Milford Public Library on Saturday, May 12, from 2:30-3:30 PM. Competition is only for the Gaming Console. Participants must bring their own DS, DSi or 3DS and a DS Pokemon game. Come play and enjoy food and prizes! Registration required at 860-355-1191 x204 or emailvfisher@biblio.org.

View foreign films and discuss them during Monday Movies at NMPL. This free series takes place at the library on May 14 at 1 PM this month. The program will feature “As It Is In Heaven”. The film is in Swedish with English subtitles, is not rated and runs 132 minutes.

New Milford Public Library and the FRIENDS of NMPL will present Color Your World: Explore Your Hidden Creativity with Anne Adams, certified facilitator on Wednesday, May 16, at 6:30 PM. When was the last time you did something just for you? This is not an art class, so put your fears aside. It is an introductory workshop designed to provide you with the tools you need to lighten up yourself and your life. It is all about having fun while discovering that the simple act of putting paint to paper is just an opportunity waiting for expression. Students in grades 5 through 12 are invited to a Teen Movie and Taco Night at the library on Friday, May 18, at 7:00 PM. Bring your friends, eat pizza and watch "Robin Hood- Men in Tights"! Registration is required at 860-355-1191 x204 or email vfisher@biblio.org.

The Independent Spirit Film Series screening for Wednesday, May 30 at 6:00 PM will be "Albert Nobbs". The free film is rated R and runs 113 minutes.

NMPL's Young Adult Council will be sponsoring a Young People's Book Swap on Wednesday, June 20, from 2-4 PM. For each usable book brought into the Children's Library during regular library hours, starting May 16 until June 20, participants will receive a coupon good for one book at the swap. The library will be closed on Sundays starting on May 27.
