Playaways

New Milford Public Library is happy to announce that we have Playaways for patrons to borrow. They may be checked out for 3 weeks and are renewable.  Thanks to the generosity of the FRIENDS of New Milford Library, we have been able to purchase a selection of these audio items to add to our collection. We also have FM transmitters which may be borrowed along with the playaways so that you may listen to your books in your car through your car radio!

A Playaway is the self-contained audio equivalent of a book. They are half the size of a deck of cards, and require only earphones and one AAA battery. The Playaways universal headphone jack works with almost any type of headphone or mobile accessory. Playaways give listeners the option of placing digital bookmarks and controlling the speed of a narrator’s voice.

So the key bonuses of Playaways are:

• They are the easiest way to listen to a book – the only thing you need to do is press play!
• Each Playaway contains an entire book, regardless of length (up to 80 hours!)
• They weigh only 2 ounces and can easily fit in a pocket for ultimate portability.
• They come with an automatic bookmark function that remembers where you left off.
• Playaways have a universal headphone jack that can be used with a number of mobility accessories including portable speakers, FM transmitters, and audio cables to listen in virtually any environment.
