The Reference Department is dedicated to providing professional,
individualized service for each patron's informational needs supported by a
reference collection which consists of materials in a variety of formats.
When visiting the library, the Reference desk is located in the lower level of
the adult library. If you enter through the main entrance the reference desk is
to the right of the Circulation desk, down the stairs. Signs will point the way
to the newly remodeled desk and to the online catalog.

request that we try to get the item from another library. We try to obtain materials
at no charge. However, if there is a charge involved, we will inform you and
get your approval prior to the request being sent. The requesting patron is
responsible for all fees for materials obtained through interlibrary loan. If
you wish to request that the library
purchase a new item for the collection which we do not have, please fill out
a Material

Genealogy/Census
Microfilm Rental Programs
The library does not own any census microfilm but does participate in the
National Archives Census Microfilm Rental Program. This program allows patrons
to select specific microfilm reels from the census catalogs and then order them
for use in the library for up to six weeks. Catalogs, order forms and prices are
available at the reference desk.
In addition, we have just become the first public library in Connecticut to become a
Family History Center affiliate library! This designation means that our patrons will have greater and more convenient access to the wealth of genealogical resources available
through the Family History Library. Please call 860-355-1191 x207 for more information.
